The Mid-Atlantic Ridge, part of the longest mountain range globally, formed due to volcanic activity from the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province (CAMP) that split Pangaea, creating the Atlantic Ocean. The CAMP eruption, the largest known, occurred 201 million years ago, releasing massive lava flows and causing global environmental upheaval.
