Historical paints like lead white, cinnabar red, and minimum orange were vibrant but dangerous. Lead-based pigments caused severe health issues like kidney damage and neurological problems, while cinnabar, made of mercury sulfide, affected immune and muscle functions and caused tremors and memory loss.
