In it, they showcase an elephant from Zimbabwe’s Matusadona Park while it was frolicking around on the shores of Lake Kariba one serendipitous afternoon. \u00a9 Vicki Jauron \/ Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2021.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n In particular, I\u2019m here to take you through a \u201cdigital safari,\u201d if you will. But this is no mere trip to the nearest wildlife reserve, mind you\u2014we\u2019re here to remember a time when nature, when captured at just the right moment, had a pretty colorful sense of humor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s right\u2014we\u2019re taking a look back at the recently-concluded 2021 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards<\/a>. The now-famous photography competition, born from a \u201cpassion for wildlife\u201d rooted in its co-founders Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam, aims to highlight what we need to do to conserve what\u2019s left of our beautiful planet by showcasing its inhabitants in moments that are, really, less \u201cbeautiful\u201d and more \u201chilarious.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last year\u2019s winner was \u201cOuch!\u201d, taken by Ken Jensen. The photo showcases a golden silk monkey from Yunnan, China while it was caught in what appears to be a truly inopportune time. \u00a9 Ken Jensen \/ Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2021. <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n Last year, the competition chose to support Save Wild Orangutans<\/a>, an organization that aims to protect Indonesia\u2019s orangutans through the Gunung Palung Orangutan Conservation Program<\/a>. Around 10% of all revenues generated by the competition were donated to the organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
