Spinosaurids are a contentious and challenging group to discuss due to the fragmented fossil record and the passionate nature of the spinosaur community. The recent discovery of a new spinosaurid species, Riovenatrix lacustris, in Spain, adds to the ongoing debate about their family tree and evolutionary relationships.
