The “modern beverage era” began relatively recently in human history, as early humans primarily drank water for most of their existence. Although plant-based drinks like tea, coffee, and wine date back thousands of years, the oldest beverages appear to be milk and beer, emerging around 9,000 to 6,000 years ago.
